Visit friends on board the ship

A friendly family will be on NCL cruise ship and I would like to visit them and to see the ship. Is it permitted? What documents I need to have. I forgot to mention that they are coming here in San Diego.

Unfortunately the policy of NCL is that no passenger's visitors are allowed on-board. Nowadays the security precautions are strict all around the world and you understand that cruise ships are very vulnerable.
