Do you tip on a cruise?

Hello, cruisers!

I have always had this unpleasant feeling in my guts when my cruise was over - should I tip my steward or not?
Most of the cruiselines have an automatic gratuity amount added to your cruise portfolio, but is this enough?
And on the other hand - will this money go to the person that actually pampered me or it will sink into the 'crew pool'
I always gave a little extra in cash the day before our disembarkation.
What do you do?

I was on a cruise long time ago and the Cruise director said in the first day of the cruise that the tipping is not required and not expected - that was so weird to me then. I knew about the prepaid gratuity but I felt that I need to tip my steward.

We understand your opinion. However, the stewards and all crew members on board are working very long hours for a small wage. We have always tipped our stewards a little extra.

However, gratuities are not expected, so that this is a personal choice!
