General info
HI! My wife and I went on an overnight cruise, our first just to see what it was like, we were on the Norwegian Gem from NY. We both loved it, but it was short and didn't get to experience the whole ship. Now we are looking at 7 day cruises with our kids, age 6 and 10 at the moment. There are three ports close to us, NJ, NY and Baltimore. We were watching youtube and reading, etc. about carnival and royal caribbean. We want something that will have good stuff for the kids as well as us. We like NCL freestyle, it's good that we can go eat when we (meaning the kids) want. Carnival I read has anytime dinning, is that truly anytime or just anytime between a set time? The wife has family in MD that we could leave the car at and they will take us to the port, saves on paying for parking But if there's a better ship for our needs from NY we would like to check into it.

Hello kaflex,
Thanks for stopping by.
FYI - Disney will be offering cruises leaving from NYC.
We posted an article in our section on the following link:

We guarantee that your kids will ADORE it!!!!
As for Carnival or Royal - there are plenty dining options. What you refer to as 'anytime dining'. however, is something different - meaning that you can go in the dining room without a pre-booked time.
There are plenty of food options on board - the buffets, for example, are always available.
Hope that helps - let us know if you need more info!
