Curious, do on a Cruise ship really scan and search your checked bags? Do they search your carryon? the last time I cruised was 1.5 yrs ago and I dont recall them searching my carryon. Can I pack wine or liquor in my checked bag? And can I bring a carton of cigs?

Yes, they are scanning all the luggage. Usually the x-ray scanning is made ashore during turnaround days and during standard port days the scanning of all the carry on is performed from the security staff on board.
Before the pack liquor, wine or beer please check the policy of the cruise line regarding alcohol.
Cigarettes are usually not a problem for the ship as long as you are in compliance with the local customs regulations regarding the maximum amount of cigarettes and the smoking policy of the cruise line.

Hello,

Security is scanning the luggage. Especially when the port is on higher security level. As for the liquor - probably you are not entitled to bring anything on board but if you are creative you can - we will just give a hint - Rum Runners.

Let us know if we can help more!
