We've rented a scooter for our mom to enjoy the cruise - anyone have any experience as to how it is so get around the ship with one? How about for the ports?

As I know all the ships callin US or cruising with US passengers have to be ADA certified. Off course not all the ships are 100% accessible but usually moving with scooter is not a problem at all. The only annoying restriction you may face is that they are not permitted in the tenders. Actually they are permitted but the person have to be able to walk and they are carrying the scooter separately.

why is that? makes no sense especially if the person is disabled and cannot walk. What do they do then?
